BEAR MOUNTAIN LODGE -

May 2023

Spring is definitely here. Yahoo eeee!

LODGE NEWS:
The irises are blooming. Thanks to Kaz, she gave us a bunch to plant . They are doing great. Lots of purple and white flowers. The cottonwoods are bright green and it is getting warmer. The century plants are sending up their stalks so fast, who needs time-release photography. The hummingbirds are back and are buzzing everywhere.

A big shout out to Lorna who had her 3 day and night 80th birthday party here. The band was great!

CAFE NEWS:
We are working on the cookbook .
We are getting ready to complete the 100 recipes.
We will still need to write the stories about the recipes
and the history of the Lodge.
It has been a lot of very wonderful work and fun.

The cooking class is on Wednesday, May 10th at 10:00. The class will make seeded focaccia with a roasted red bell, basil, and pistachio tapenade.
Lunch will be a roasted chicken or veggie salad with your focaccia and tapenade and dessert.

The proceeds are going into a fund to sent Genna and Rey to cooking school in Ireland.

GALLERY NEWS:
We have a new series of paintings by Nolan Winkler. See a detail of one below.
Let us know if you'd like us to send you pictures of them.
The pieces are the embodiment of Spring.
They lift your spirits and are masterfully executed.

BARN NEWS:
We have baby chicks. It is always amazing to hear such a cacophony from such small beings.
Aruca, our friend from Mongolia, is here.
He bought the horses Mongolian style halters made of yak leather.
Z looks stunning in hers. She did wonder about the smell of tanned yak though. See picture below.
The cows are loving to be able to graze in the fields.

In other words Spring is here in full force!

Word of the month:

Empathy. "The ability to share someone else's feelings and experiences or to walk in their shoes for a bit".

We hope to see you soon!

With great sadness Barbara Nance passed away this month. One of the most diverse and talented artists ever. She will be missed for her talent and smile.
